Don’t be Minnesota

From The Hill newspaper,

Oz alleges Maine ‘looks a lot like Minnesota’ regarding entitlement fraud.

That’s TV’s Dr. Mehmet Oz, now the head of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). And he should know, as he paid a visit to the nation’s center for fraud, Minneapolis-St. Paul, just last month.

The Hill reports,

The [Maine] allegations are similar to an investigation into alleged fraud in Minnesota, in which federal investigators estimate fraudsters funneled $1 billion in funding allocated for social services programs.

Adding,

Oz alleged that the Maine fraud case is also connected to the state’s Somali population, and he said he’s sent a letter to Maine Gov. Janet Mills (D) about these concerns.

The visit by Dr. Oz to Minnesota last month was part of a nationwide tour that took him to Los Angeles.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) recently filed a civil rights complaint, with his press office accusing Oz of “making racially charged claims of fraud outside Armenian-owned businesses.”

Anyone who has watched a Hollywood movie in, say, the last 100 years will be aware of the existence of ethnic-group-based organized crime: Italian, Irish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and I’m sure I’m forgetting a few others.

Perhaps, it’s worth pointing out that Dr. Oz himself is the son of Turkish immigrants. Or perhaps not.

Somali, Armenian, whatever, Dr. Oz is guilty of noticing.
