From the Minneapolis Star Tribune,
Minneapolis city leaders to consider bathhouses that allow sexual activity.
What could go wrong? I’ve been documenting the decline and fall of Minneapolis for many years under the banner “Detroit on the Mississippi.” But the City of Lakes seems determined to go down in flames combining the worst aspects of all of the world’s basket cases. The physical destruction of Detroit, the crime of Baltimore, the political violence of Portland.
Now we’re doing the social mores of San Francisco in the 1970s. The Star Tribune reports,
Minneapolis city leaders are considering legalizing adult bathhouses and sex venues where “sexual activity between consenting adults” would be allowed.
The City Council will decide Tuesday, April 7, whether to have city staff research several ordinances that would allow adult bathhouses and sex venues to operate again after a 38-year ban.
Weed vendors, Dollar stores. That wasn’t drawing the throngs back downtown. But will even hardcore hedonists venture downtown when the chances of mugging and carjacking are so high? Or will that just add a certain frisson to the adventure?
Decorum prohibits quoting further from the Star Tribune article, which you can read here.
But you will be relieved to hear that the new permissive ordinance will avoid any “stigmatizing language.”
This idiocy was always going to make national news.
