ICE officer charged

We support law enforcement and we supported Operation Metro Surge. However, certain incidents that went down in the course of the operation are virtually inexplicable. The operation contributed to the departure of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem from the Trump administration and the assignment of Tom Homan to right the ship here.

Unfortunately, one of the Metro Surge incidents gave rise to a charge Soros-supported Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty can believe in. We last left this story relying on the word of the ICE officer involved. That appears to have been a painful mistake on my part.

The ICE officer involved is Christian J. Castro. He is charged with four counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and one count of falsely reporting a crime. The incident involved the nonfatal shooting of “Minneapolis man” Julio Sosa-Celis.

In the video below KARE 11’s Lou Raguse briefly delivers news of the charge against the ICE officer. Jeff Day’s Star Tribune story fully details the incident. According to Moriarty, Señor Sosa-Celis has temporary protected status. She did not explain why.

[UPDATE: Two footnotes: Temporary protected status means that Sosa-Celis entered the United States illegally. Moriarty leaves us hanging.

The Star Tribune story acknowledges the existence of a federal investigation of the ICE officer. That investigation has been publicly known for months. Castro is likely to be charged as a result of that federal investigation and Moriarty’s prosecution is unlikely ever to be put to the test.]

I will have to get up to speed on the procedural issues to which this case gives rise. As Lou might say, stay tuned.
