They do not love thee, Dr. Hamawy

Tom Brown’s famous translation of one of the Roman poet Martial’s epigrams begins: “I do not love thee, Doctor Fell / The reason why I cannot tell.” Brown himself might have trouble rhyming the name of New Jersey Democrat Dr. Adam Hamawy in a couplet. However, Dr. Hamawy’s patients have had no trouble explaining why they do not like him.

Dr. Hamawy, you may recall, is the congressional candidate who testified on behalf of the Blind Sheikh at the 1995 World Trade Center bombing trial. I wrote about that over the weekend in “Adam Hamawy then & now.”

In my post I cited the Wall Street Journal column by WTC trial judge Michael Mukasey and the Natnional Review post by WTC prosecutor Andrew McCarthy. Behind paywalls, Judge Mukasey’s WSJ column is here, McCarthy’s NR post here.

I should have credited the Washington Free Beacon’s Jon Levine with the original reporting of that story (with more here). The Free Beacon story elicited the recollections of Judge Mukasey and Andrew McCarthy.

Levine has now mischievously followed up by combing online reviews of Dr. Hamawy’s work as a plastic surgeon. Levine’s current story runs under the headline “‘This Doctor and His Staff Are Horrible!’ Democratic House Hopeful Under Fire for Terror Ties Denounced as ‘Creep’ Who Left Patients Scarred, Disfigured, According to Complaints.”

Levine’s first cut is the deepest. He opens: “The deepest cuts are his reviews.”

Levine’s story highlights “a harrowing Yelp review from 2019[.]” Hamawy’s patient (“Diva S.”) wrote:

I left the practice in a significant amount of pain and drove home. Upon arriving home my parents saw my face and asked what happened. That’s when I noticed the second degree burns under my chin on my neck. I emailed Princeton Plastic Surgeons asking them what I should do. They got back to me the following morning telling me that “It will be fine. Put Neosporin on it”. I asked if they could prescribe me some mediation as the pain was unbearable. Adrienne confirmed that Dr Hamawy would prescribe me medication. However a full day went by and he did not prescribe any medication. I followed up with Adrienne several times and she was of no help. As a last resort my parents took me to the emergency room where I was treated for second degree burns. Three days later Dr Hamawy finally prescribed me medication. Apparently he was too busy up until then to follow up with his own patient. It has been six months since this unfortunate experience and I still have large scars. As an actress by profession these scars have made working very difficult. Dr Hamawy has still not called a single time to follow up.

The Beacon harshes our mellow by including the photo Diva supplied with her review. The photo depicts her burns. Caption: “Second degree burn courtesy of Dr Hamawy.” Ouch! Hamawy, however, does not feel her pain.

The Free Beacon excels at performing the work that the mainstream media refuses to do. See Levine’s story in its graphic entirety here.
