This, from Rasmussen, is depressing with the midterms just a few months away:
The question of which party is more trusted to handle taxes now slightly favors Democrats, less than five months ahead of the midterm elections.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 44% of Likely U.S. Voters trust Democrats more to handle taxes, while 41% trust Republicans more and 15% are not sure. In February, Republicans led by one point (45% to 44%).
Everyone knows the Democrats are the high-tax party, so does this mean that Americans want to pay more in taxes? Of course not. It means they want you to pay more in taxes. I suspect the shift is due to the Democrats’ demagoguing Elon Musk’s status as a paper trillionaire. The increase in support for Democrats’ tax plans can be translated exactly as “Let’s get our hands on some of that loot.”
