Having noted Victor Davis Hanson’s comments on our recent ceasefire deals with Iran, I wanted to add that Centcom announced no strikes on Iran for the first time in two weeks last night. Are we talking again with the regime to reach a desired result? At this point, I think war war is better than jaw jaw.
Searching Centcom’s X feed, I find the X post by Foundation for Defense of Democracies Senior Fellow Behnam Ben Taleblu positing these questions (slightly edited):
– There are still 2 days/nights in the weekend where markets are closed, will there be a resumption or a pushing away from the table?
– Is the President saving any major escalation until he meets the Israeli PM next week?
– Is the President putting stock in the upcoming international maritime security conference in London over the fate of the Strait of Hormuz?
– Are the talks the President teased with Iran at the Oval Office yesterday more serious than he may let on?
– Is the US biding its time to keep its powder dry while also trying to figure out how to deal with the Houthi threat in the CENTCOM area of responsibility?
🚨No strikes reported against Iran last night by CENTCOM. This marks the first night of silence after 13 consecutive nights of strikes by the US. Of note, Iran had responded to each round with drone and missile strikes on US installations in Arab nations.

He also quotes new regime security boss Mohammed Baghdar Zolghadr, who promises that attacks will continue until the “complement surrender” [?] by the enemy and until the blood of the children of Minab and Lamerd is avenged. You can look it up. I think that means something like attacks will continue until morale improves.
