On Monday Biden raged against the “elites” who want him to step aside. Today one of the elites stepped up, the premier representatives of the looney Clooney left: George Clooney himself.
Clooney wrote in the New York Times:
George Clooney: I Love Joe Biden. But We Need a New Nominee.
I’m a lifelong Democrat; I make no apologies for that. . . I have led some of the biggest fund-raisers in my party’s history. . . Last month I co-hosted the single largest fund-raiser supporting any Democratic candidate ever, for President Biden’s re-election. . .
It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe “big F-ing deal” Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate. . . our party leaders need to stop telling us that 51 million people didn’t see what we just saw. . . The dam has broken. We can put our heads in the sand and pray for a miracle in November, or we can speak the truth.
What are the chances that Clooney wrote this without consulting Barack Obama or other senior Democrats? How significant is the Clooney piece? This significant: The Wall Street Journal is reporting tonight that “Campaign officials sought to intervene to prevent the piece from publishing, according to a person familiar with the discussions.”
Second, what an interesting spectacle to observe the split between the Congressional Black Caucus that supports Biden and the white Hollywood fatcats who want to throw Biden over the side. Hollywood, as a source of glamour and funds, probably holds the high cards here, but not by much, so terrified are Democrats of crossing their sanctified victim groups.

And chaser: I believe Clooney’s first film appearance was in Return of the Killer Tomatoes, the inferior sequel to the campy cult classic Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, which was written, produced and directed by the person (Steve Peace) who later went into politics and wrote the legislation that screwed up California’s electricity system 25 years ago. So you can see a pattern here. Anyway:
