The Mustard’s Off the Weiner

Roger Stone's body ink

Was Anthony Weiner set up?  I don’t usually go in for conspiracy theories; besides, the whole spectacle of Weiner-Spitzer-Filner makes a conspiracy implausible even for the most implacable Grassy Knollers.  It’s not just that all three of these less-than-gentle-men have names that coincidentally end in “-er,” but the fact that they all sound like bad porn star pseudonyms.  Though now that you mention it, “Carlos Danger” is a pretty good porn pseudonym, too.

The indirect claim in the documentary “Client 9” about Spitzer’s fall that the nefarious Roger Stone was somehow behind it all sounds more than farfetched–until you take in the bizarre fact that Stone has a prominent tattoo of Richard Nixon on his back.  What’s up with that?  Anyone with a Nixon tattoo on their upper back has to be a little . . . bent.

Anyway, what makes me wonder whether Weiner fell for an old-fashioned honey trap is the Twitter exchange Fox News excerpts:

Take in that last sentence: “Specifically your health care rants were a huge turn on“!!!

Are there really liberals out there who are turned on by Weiner’s panting about health care?  Perhaps there are–liberals are cheap dates these days–but if this were true then how come Bill Clinton couldn’t get it done?

Yes, trivia fans, the headline for this post is a shout out of sorts to the great Lakers play-by-play man Chick Hearn.
