Today has been a great day for Americans, but not everyone sees it that way. Hard-core Democratic Party spokesmen like the New York Times are spinning furiously, trying to advance DNC messages. Thus, the Times story on Donald Trump’s inauguration calls his speech “grim”:

Luke Rosiak’s response is better than mine would have been:
Do they know that the speech was public and we could actually hear it ourselves? pic.twitter.com/ZENNCCrmBt

Anyone who actually watched Trump’s speech knows that it was upbeat: America is back! We are entering a Golden Age! But the Times knows that its overwhelmingly left-wing readers didn’t watch Trump’s speech. Rather, they depend on the paper’s far-left reporters to tell them what happened. So the paper is giving its benighted readers what they want.
In a separate commentary, the Times editorial board, probably farther to the left than the Democratic Socialists of America, issues a stern warning to President Trump: Standing Up to Donald Trump’s Fear Tactics.
Fear tactics? Huh?
“Real power is — I don’t even want to use the word — fear.”
Donald Trump made that remark to the journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa in March 2016. Fear is, of course, a favorite tool of the president-elect. He has used it for decades to intimidate opponents, critics and allies to give up, give in or give way. He built his real estate empire through lawsuits and threats against rivals and partners.
He cowed and demolished political opponents through humiliation and invective. He consolidated control of the Republican Party and silenced G.O.P. detractors with pressure tactics and threats to end careers. And as president, he used the power of the office and the power of social media to make life miserable for anyone he chose.
This is so insane it isn’t worth deconstructing in detail. Leftists at the Times accuse Trump of “lawsuits” and “threats against rivals” along with “mak[ing] life miserable for anyone he chose.” Well: the Democrats certainly tried to make life miserable for Trump. They besieged him with lawsuits, including several of the most downright stupid criminal prosecutions in American history. Those groundless prosecutions had nothing to do with law enforcement, and everything to do with raw Democratic Party power, trying to make a political opponent’s life miserable.
And whose wife’s underwear drawer was searched by federal agents? Joe Biden’s? Barack Obama’s? Chuck Schumer’s? No, obviously. Donald Trump’s. And when it comes to “invective,” how about the invective the Democrats have directed toward Trump? They have denounced him, thousands of times, as a traitor, an insurrectionist, a racist, a fascist, and pretty much every other insult under the Sun.
Do Democrats not remember any of this? I don’t know. They might not. They are living in a parallel, and entirely fictional, universe. They know little about the real world, but a great deal about the false world–the fake news world–that they have created. You can see that fake world unfold every day, if you read the New York Times.
