Tulsi Gabbard To Be Confirmed

Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination as Director of National Intelligence advanced last night on a 52-46 vote. The final vote on her confirmation, which Democrats have delayed as long as they can, will be late tomorrow night. It is not in doubt, and J.D. Vance is out of the country, as his vote will not be needed to break a tie.

I think Gabbard is an excellent choice for this role. Senator Tom Cotton, Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, played an important part in marshaling support for her.

I believe that leaves Robert Kennedy as the only remaining Trump nominee about whose confirmation there is any doubt. My impression is that Democratic opposition to Trump’s nominees has collapsed, as they are failing to convince any Republicans to vote with them, and that Kennedy too will be confirmed. The Democrats took their best shot with Pete Hegseth’s nomination, and fell short.
