President Trump waited 10 days for the response of the powers-that-be in Iran, whoever they are, to the proposed one-page memorandum setting forth terms acceptable to the United States. It looked like fool’s gold to me, but the Iranians rejected it in a letter that Trump has declared “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” Now what?

The White House X account reposted Trump’s further comments on Truth Social and did us the favor of highlighting the quotable quote: “They will be laughing no longer!” As a bonus, Trump provides an assessment of his predecessors’ accommodations with Iran. He ascribes Obama’s to weakness and stupidity. That is far too generous.
Referring to both Obama and Biden, Trump comments, “[Obama] was a disaster as our ‘Leader,’ but not as bad as Sleepy Joe Biden!”
Who was worse? Now that would make a good topic for debate. Obama’s delivery of cash to the mullahs along with the JCPOA must place Obama somewhere south of Neville Chamberlain in the annals of political folly. Chamberlain didn’t yearn to support the Nazi regime. Obama thought Iran should serve as a counterweight to Israel among our allies in the Middle East. He therefore sought to prop it up. Biden compounded the Obama disaster.
Orwell is frequently quoted for the proposition that some ideas are so stupid only intellectuals believe them. Obama goes to show that the proposition needs to be extended to pseudo-intellectuals as well.
