The “Democratic Socialist” agenda

It seems wherever in America that Democrats enjoy a complete monopoly on power, “Democratic Socialists” are in the ascendency.

Here in Minnesota, the local outlet is close to assuming complete control of the state’s largest cities, so I was curious to see what their plan is for governing.

The agenda includes everything that you were expecting: “free Palestine,” “abolish ICE,” rent control, higher minimum wages, “free” health care, etc.

But I was surprised by the prominence of the “Decolonize the Settler State of Minnesota” agenda. It appears as Demand No. 1. Demand No. 2 reads,

Return of land: Return land to First Nations, starting with expropriating State, Federal, and large private holdings, with the return of the rest of the land as soon as possible.

“Expropriating” doesn’t sound 5th Amendment friendly.

Taken literally, which I assume they intend, this shift would end Minnesota’s status as state. With all land under “First Nations” control, necessitating the end of the concept of private property, what is now “Minnesota” would have to surrender statehood status.

If not, then the state should be expelled from the union as the vast majority of what were American citizens residing therein would not be allowed to vote for U.S. Congress or the U.S. Senate.

Without private property, the state could support no more than a few hundred thousand residents, meaning more than 5 million current residents would have to leave.

The Socialists’ other economic demands would be rendered moot as large-scale organized economic activity would immediately cease when private property is outlawed. If 100 percent land expropriation is your No. 1 agenda item, then it is your only agenda item.

Be careful of what you ask for, you just might get it.
