Mark Halperin now holds down the fort at Wide World of News. Paid subscriptions to the site are so expensive they must be for professionals. He specializes in reporting of the insider variety and cultivates sources on both sides of the aisle. He was #MeTooed in 2017, but he is still working his beat.
This past Friday morning Halperin convened a panel to conduct post-debate analysis. The video below runs an hour. He has posted the video here on his site. Halperin describes it thusly: “Lots of spirited discussion about whether Biden can be pressured to give up the nomination and what happens if he does (and if he doesn’t). Also: some expert Bidenology.” The contributors include Lauren Leader, Meghan McCain, Alex Castellanos, Mark McKinnon, three pollsters (David Burrell, Whit Ayres, Nicolas Checa), and other members of Halperin’s “2WAY community.”
I found the discussion worth my time. Drawing on her experience as a caregiver for her father, Meghan McCain’s unleashes an indignant tirade on the abuse of Biden by his family (at 13:45). Put her other opinions to one side. The justice of her condemnation is undeniable.
I take it from his comments that Halperin has doubted Biden’s capacity since 2018. I set the over/under on Biden’s capacity at 40 percent in 2020. However, I found Halperin’s tidbits reflecting insider observations of Biden’s recent decline (since the State of the Union) and debate preparation to be of special interest.
Something is wrong with Biden. Is it Parkinson’s or Lewy Body Dementia, as physician and former Rep. Nan Hayworth opines (at about 35:00)? Whatever it is, it is serious and its seriousness is something like an open secret.
