Hegseth Strikes

Installed as Secretary of Defense, our friend Pete Hegseth has wasted no time executing the Trump Administration mission. General Mark Milley conducted himself disgracefully during Trump’s first term, contacting the Red Chinese on his own initiative to assure them that if President Trump issued any extraordinary orders, they would not be obeyed. Don’t worry, we won’t bomb you! Not that Trump intended to do any such thing, but this was an act of insubordination, unprecedented as far as I know, that many have labeled treasonous. That word is thrown around a lot these days, usually with zero basis. But I don’t know: this comes close. Milley clearly signaled that there were two sides here; he was on one side with the Communist Chinese Party, and Trump was the other side.

So Secretary Hegseth has stripped Milley of his security clearance and authorized an investigation into his gross misconduct:

Milley isn’t going to be hanged; we live in a civilized time. The worst fate that he faces is losing one retirement star. To be honest, that is the very least sanction that he deserves.
