The Minnesota House DFL caucus continues to celebrate its big win at the Minnesota Supreme Court this past Friday. Now they will have to continue to skip work and play hooky to deprive the House of a quorum to operate so long as Republicans hold a 67-66 majority pending a special election that has yet to be called. Woo hoo! In the meantime the House Democrats nevertheless continue to collect their paychecks. Woo hoo! again.
I have volunteered to translate their messages posted on social media. Here we have elected DFL Rep. Emma Greenman. Translation: I skipped work and played hooky again today.
Spent the morning at Justice Page Middle School and as a voting rights lawyer, I get lots of questions about democracy. It’s hard to explain what the MN GOP are doing-trying to overturn an election to seize power they didn’t win. Enough with the Trump tactics, kids are watching. pic.twitter.com/MxwJ65BQc2

Here we have elected DFL Rep. Jamie Long. I have a commonsense “ask” of my own. Quit using “ask” as a noun. You sound like a moron. Translation: I wonder how many of your constituents have the commonsense “ask” that you quit playing hooky and go to work.
Now that the illegal GOP power grab is over, the House DFL has two commonsense asks:
– Respect the will of Shakopee voters and don't kick out Rep. Tabke
– Respect the will of MN voters and co-govern when we return to a tie
The Senate GOP agreed. Why not the House GOP?

Here we have the House DFL caucus speaking with its institutional voice. Translation: The caucus intends to continue skipping work and playing hooky.
The Supreme Court ruled that Republicans violated the Constitution when they tried to seize control of the Minnesota House for two years. It’s time for Republicans’ power grab to end. pic.twitter.com/OyIfKroC6f

Here we have the House DFL caucus speaking again with its institutional voice. Translation: This is your daily reminder that the caucus has been playing hooky since January 14.
🗓️ Your daily reminder that @mnhousegop tried to seize power that voters did not give them, and failed.
Make no mistake, Republicans' power grab is not over.

Anthony Gockowsi is editor of Alpha News. It seeks to fill the void created by the Star Tribune. In the post below, Anthony reports on the efforts of House Republicans to bring their Democrat colleagues back to work. For some reason, Democrats prefer to skip work on the public payroll. You can see why they prefer to talk about something else.
Rep. Harry Niska says Secretary of State Steve Simon prevented MN House Republicans from bringing up a motion to compel the attendance of absent Democrats.
