Area man threatens Pam Bondi [Updated]

From the New York Post,

29-year-old anarchist arrested for alleged $45K hit on Pam Bondi: FBI.

It looks like I’m going to need to launch an “Area Man” series alongside my “Minnesota Man” posts to keep track of all the local crime stories making national news.

The only places where I’m aware that “anarchist” can be described as a profession are Minneapolis, Portland, and Seattle.

Details from the Post,

An anarchist with a lengthy rap sheet has been arrested for allegedly putting a $45,000 hit out on US Attorney General Pam Bondi on TikTok, according to the feds.

Tyler Maxon Avalos, 29, was nabbed on Oct. 16 after a tipster alerted the FBI to the alleged murder-for-hire plot the suspect had blasted out on social media earlier this month.

Avalos made his first court appearance on October 17. He was charged with, “Communications consisting of an online post containing a threat to injure the person of another.”

After a detention hearing on October 22, he was released on bond. No date has been set, as of yet, for his next court appearance.

[Update 1: I dug into the background of Avalos, and found the following.

The FBI report filed in the case indicates that Avalos resides in St. Paul. He was arrested on Oct. 16 at his home. The FBI report mentions that Avalos, age 29, has a state felony stalking conviction from Dakota County dating to 2022. Avalos has an unpaid restitution bill of $9,500 from that case.

In that 2022 case, Avalos (then living in Rosemount) received a stayed sentence under a plea agreement and four years of probation, which he appears to have violated. Under the plea agreement, two felony domestic assault charges were dropped.

Court records indicate that Avalos has been on the losing end of two separate paternity lawsuits involving two different women and a total of three children. Filings in those cases cast doubt on his ability to finance the $45,000 bounty he offered in the Bondi case.]

The UK Daily Mail put up a story today. From a Google search, not a single Minnesota media outlet has reported on the incident.

[Update 2: eventually WCCO-4 (CBS) posted a story.]

So, file this one under “breaking news.”
