Crazytown

The violence in Minnesota seems to have died down. I think that is mostly because conservatives infiltrated the secret Signal chats that leftist forces were using to organize their insurrection against federal law, in what was essentially a military operation. As a result of those infiltrations, some of the radicals were identified, a spreadsheet of their donors was downloaded, and, I suspect, a number of the professional rioters returned to their homes.

But that doesn’t mean things have returned to normal. Here are two examples of the bizarre reality that still obtains in Minneapolis.

First, left-wingers are setting up makeshift barriers on city streets and stopping all cars that try to pass. They have a database that contains numbers of ICE vehicles, which they will not allow through (a federal crime punishable by up to three years in a federal penitentiary, for what it is worth). Scott Jennings is appropriately enraged:

Law enforcement in Minneapolis is AWOL, when it is not actively on the side of the lawless.

Second, the liquor licenses of two Minneapolis hotels came up for routine renewal. The Minneapolis City Council declined to renew the licenses, at least for now, because the hotels have failed to ban federal law enforcement employees from their premises:

A Minneapolis City Council committee delayed action Tuesday on renewing liquor licenses for two Minneapolis hotels that have housed federal immigration officers.

The committee, made up of all council members, voted 8-5 to delay a decision on the licenses for Canopy by Hilton in the Mill District and Depot Renaissance Hotel until the next meeting on Feb. 17. The council also voted to schedule a public hearing so residents can weigh in on the matter.

You can imagine how that “weighing in” will go. Of course, denying a liquor license on the ground that a hotel, restaurant or bar failed to discriminate against law enforcement would be grotesquely illegal. It won’t happen. But the Minneapolis City Council, probably the most irresponsibly left-wing governing body in America, will seize on any means, no matter how absurd, to dramatize its rebellion against the Constitution.

Minneapolis is still Crazytown.
