It all began to unravel last Friday (April 17), when the Wall Street Journal reported that the Minnesota congresswoman’s net worth had plummeted in less than a year from as much as $30 million to less than $100,000. Oof.
On Monday, the Journal followed up on their news item with an opinion piece.
On Tuesday, Rep. Omar had a much-reported-on run-in with a reporter in the hallway in Congress.
Also on Tuesday, Rep. Omar skipped an oversight hearing back in Minnesota held by the state House Fraud Prevention committee looking into the half-billion dollar Feeding Our Future fraud scandal.
On Wednesday, the chair of the state Fraud Prevention committee, Rep. Kristen Robbins, sent a letter to Rep. Omar requesting answers about Omar’s role in the free-food scandal. The letter includes references to trial exhibits mentioning Rep. Omar by name, filed in the most recent Feeding Our Future courtroom trial. Some examples:
On Thursday, Newsweek reported that a California winery (eStCru LLC of Santa Rosa), part-owned by Rep. Omar’s (third) husband, had been dissolved by the State of California. Rep. Omar had reported just last year that the winery was worth up to $5 million.
Perhaps she will take this weekend off.
