Today Supreme Court Justices Amy Barrett and Elena Kagan testified before a House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Court’s budget for security. Justice Barrett testified about having to wear a bulletproof vest and about a swatting incident at her home:
Threats against conservative justices must be taken seriously, given the foiled attempt on Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s life. And swatting is a favorite liberal tactic.
Is there any reasonable prospect of a cease fire on the part of Democrats? I don’t think so. I think the leaders of that party believe that they are well served by their militant wing, which includes Antifa, various anti-ICE groups, and mentally ill potential assassins. So I don’t expect the situation to improve.
Many on social media are saying that Justice Barrett has knuckled under to left-wing threats, because her voting record has become significantly more centrist since Dobbs and the violent threats that she received after that decision. I haven’t reviewed the data, but it seems unlikely that her votes have been swayed by Democrats’ threats.
Still, who knows? That obviously is the goal that the militant wing of the Democratic Party has been striving for, I think with the full approval of the leaders of that party.
