As Scott noted here, Senator Rand Paul has released a number of covid-related documents, including a diary that was kept–for some incomprehensible reason–by Anthony Fauci. Paul has been on Fauci’s case for a long time.
I have not had time to do more than briefly scan the most recent documents, which you can read here, but others have come up with various nuggets. Of those I have seen so far, this strikes me as most significant:

Covid’s alleged case fatality rate was the key justification for the disastrous shutdowns and other unnecessary measures that did so much damage. It was clear from an early point, I thought at the time, that estimates of the CFR from Fauci and others were grossly inflated. Fauci apparently thought so, too. Thus, on Feb. 8, 2020, at the beginning of the covid fiasco:
Tom Frieden called me this AM and we discussed various aspects of the outbreak. He and I are on the same page in thinking that this is acting like a bad influenza in its transmissibility and that the denominator is much greater than 34,867 (above) making the case fatality rate (CFR) more like 0.2-0.3 % rather than 2.0%.
That seems to me to be the proverbial smoking gun. Fauci will testify before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on Wednesday. There should be some fireworks. Congressional testimony is rarely illuminating, but Senator Paul has been looking forward to this opportunity for a long time. Let’s hope he is able to shed some light on one of the worst public policy disasters of modern times, in which Anthony Fauci played a starring, and dishonorable, role.
