Bad moon rising

You may have missed the Dems’ big rally at the Supreme Court last night against President Trump’s “travel ban” (as CNN calls it). Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer somehow expressed his opposition to Trump’s executive order without crying even though he did call out the order as “evil.” Really.

The rally was full of symbolic moments. The amplification malfunctioned with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi at the microphone seeking to whip the crowd into a frenzy. With increasing annoyance, Pelosi repeatedly asked: “Can you hear this?” She’s a hard woman to embarrass, but the lack of a functioning sound system — now, that’s embarrassing.

Pelosi asked plaintively: “Is somebody going to deal with this?”

Pelosi whiled away the time with observation of the new moon rising. “Look at that moon,” she suggested. “It’s a new moon.”

She asked: “Shall we sing ‘This Land Is Your Land’ again until they get the sound working?” Lord, please, no, but they did, each in his or her own way.

Pelosi asked Schumer if he might be able to “introduce the real people now” for the cameras.

Schumer asked: “Are they here?”

Answer: No.
