As we look ahead to tonight’s debate, which I guess will officially kick off the presidential campaign, here is another data point to keep in mind: Rasmussen finds that 68% of Democrats either “strongly” or “somewhat” agree with the statement that “Joe Biden is a great president.”
Sure: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Joe Biden. Great presidents. I don’t know in what universe you would have to live to say that with a straight face.
This, too: 74% of Democrats agree that Donald Trump is a “threat to democracy.” Even more shocking, 62% of those earning over $200,000 a year “strongly” agree that Trump is a threat to democracy. Maybe someday someone will explain what the Hell they are talking about.
Polarization has gotten to the point where Republicans and Democrats aren’t just living in separate countries, they are living on different planets.
