Jane Fonda addressed an audience in Vancouver Tuesday night. She spoke mainly about “her marriages and her current causes,” including teen pregancy, to a mostly-female audience. But she couldn’t resist a few choice words about Iraq:
“What it’s going to mean for [America’s] stability as a nation, for terrorism, for the economy — I can’t imagine. I think the entire world is going to be united against us.
“I don’t know of a country where the people are so ignorant of reality and of history, if you can call that a free world.
“It has to do with what Michael Moore talked about in ‘Bowling for Columbine.’ There’s something about your system of government that makes you people not violent… There’s something in Canada that makes you people feel ‘seen’ in a way we don’t have in America. We’re not ‘seen’ in America.”
Well, Jane, some would say you’re seen a great deal too much. And having been wrong about every public issue that has come along since 1967, it seems fair to consider you “ignorant of reality and of history.”
