Solomonia reports that Rashid Khalidi, the director of Columbia University’s infamous Middle East Institute and holder of the Edward Said Chair at that institution, wrote an article on Jerusalem that he copied from a nearly identical essay by K.J. Asali without attribution or quotation marks. Alan Dershowitz in FrontPage Magazine recaps the story. And he challenges the University to investigate the charges against Khalidi, make a determination based on the objective standards of proper citation and attribution, and then announce its findings to the public. But Columbia’s record of investigating misconduct by members of its stable of radical anti-western middle east studies professors isn’t encouraging.
