The Republican House conference elected Rep. John Boehner Majority Leader today. I think he’s a good choice, with a history of strong opposition to pork and a lifetime ACU rating over 93%. The change is mostly symbolic, of course, but then the “corruption” charges are mostly symbolic, too.

PAUL adds: The New Republic’s Plank offers speculation, via a Democratic staffer, that selecting Boehner instead of either of the other two will save the Republicans some seats. My unschooled speculation is that selecting Boehner instead of either of the other two will have zero impact on the 2006 election.
