One aspect of our current political dialogue that puzzles me is the hysteria so many liberals manifest on the subject of treatment of terrorist detainees. While there have been isolated instances of abuse, President Bush has ordered the military and the executive branch to treat detainees humanely, and the evidence I’ve seen indicates that the President’s directive is nearly always followed.
There was a good example of this hysteria on the AOL blog site today, by one of the “Young Turks” from Air America. The subject was Jose Padilla; I tried to bring some sanity to the conversation in Hysteria, In A Dubious Cause.
