Each week on the radio show that I do with Brian Ward of Fraters Libertas (and sometimes his Fraters partner Chad Doughty), we honor the Loon of the Week–the liberal who comes out with the nuttiest or most outrageous pronouncement. It’s usually a tough choice, and 2009 was as loony a year as we’ve seen in a long time, so the competition was fierce. At the end of the year, Fraters sponsors a Loon of the Year contest and in our first show of the new year, we honor the LOTY, as selected by voters.
This year, Fraters inaugurated a tournament-style voting system in which the weekly winners were matched against each other. In the days leading up to today’s broadcast, the finalists–Al Gore and Nancy Pelosi, two of our most reliable and prolific loons–have been going head to head. It’s not too late to vote; you an go here to cast your ballot.
We will be on the air from 11 to 1 central today, reviewing the lunacy that was 2009. Go here to listen on the web. It will be, as always, a fun show.
