Barbara Boxer apparently will defeat Carly Fiorina in the California Senate race. No surprise in the end, given the clear and persistent lead Boxer held in the polls, but a disappointment nonetheless. Boxer’s win essentially ensures that the Democrats will maintain control of the Senate.
Jerry Brown is also the projected winner over Meg Whitman in the gubernatorial race. Let’s call this outcome “back to the future that doesn’t work.”
I’m not saying Jerry Brown is a retread, but his younger sister Kathleen ran unsuccessfully for California governor 16 years ago. And Jerry himself ran unsuccessfully for the Senate 28 years ago.
Win in some decades, lose in others is that family’s motto.
