Pro-Democracy Rally In Progress In Madison

Thousands of demonstrators are rallying at the Wisconsin Capitol this afternoon in support of democracy, fiscal sanity, fairness, Governor Scott Walker and the Republican legislators who will begin reining in the bloated power of the public employee unions, as soon as the Democrats come out of hiding. Here, Herman Cain addresses the demonstrators:
More to come.
UPDATE: These photos were sent in by a reader. I like this sign; click to enlarge:
More good signs; this one conveys some sense of the size of the crowd. One emailer writes that pro-union demonstrators surrounded the Capitol “and were walking in a moving cordon attempting to prevent anyone from entering or leaving the area.” Nevertheless, a lot of people turned out to support Governor Walker and Republican legislators:
Andrew Breitbart addresses the crowd:
Here is Andrew’s speech:

It was widely reported that doctors were handing out false notes to pro-union demonstrators, saying they were sick. How childish! Breitbart says that he has video of himself getting such a note, which he will post on Breitbart TV.
Ann Althouse spent the afternoon at the protest and counter-protest, and has lots of photos and video.
FURTHER UPDATE: This young doctor cheerfully admits that she is writing fraudulent medical reports to help union members violate their duties as public employees. She doesn’t seem to have even considered that there is anything wrong with this sort of fraud. Why wouldn’t this cause a doctor to lose her license?

MORE: A physician wrote to InstaPundit to comment on the fraud being perpetrated by liberal doctors in Wisconsin:

I noted the Althouse blog reference at Instapundit.
I’m a physician. I take care of patients. Yes indeed, if I were to give a doctor’s note to someone without conducting a proper medical evaluation (however brief), I’d be guilty of improper behavior and ethics and could be brought before the medical licensing board.
However, there’s another name for this: FRAUD. The teachers will use these notes to justify their absences and collect their pay. Both the doctors and the teachers are perpetrating a fraud.
Wonder if the Wisconsin attorney general could be motivated to look into that? At the very least, demand that any teacher turning in a doctor’s note over this work action also turn over the record of the medical ‘evaluation’. That would put a stop to this real quick.

Glenn comments: “Sadly, casual abuse of power and position in the service of leftist politics seems to be the norm these days.”
MORE: Also via InstaPundit, Professor Jacobson writes:

We have seen the future of the health care system, and it is the doctors on the streets of Madison, Wisconsin, handing out free sick notes to public sector union members so they can fraudulently collect their pay for missing work.
Boy, oh boy, I can’t wait for Obamacare. Politicized medicine, massive fraud in the name of progressive politics, and a callous disregard for the law free from fear of prosecution for those aligned with the Democrats.

That is exactly right. When all power resides in government, pull is everything. A sick world? Of course. But that is where Barack Obama and his Democrats are taking us.
MORE: Here it is: Andrew Breitbart gets a note from “his doctor,” whom of course he has never met before, based on his representation that he “called in sick.” How corrupt are liberals? This corrupt:

MORE: Michelle Malkin has photos of teachers’ union members from today’s rally, but I can’t put them up here because of the language on their signs. What is it about liberals that makes them talk as if they were still in junior high school?
