Two men arrested in New York are forthrightly said to have been planning jihad with the impressive arsenal they sought to acquire from undercover law enforcement office. One of the two was a guy named Mo — Mohammud Mamdouh, a Moroccan immigrant. The other suspect arrested is Ahmed Ferhani. Ferhani is an Algerian immigrant whose life so far has been devoted to a variety of criminal pursuits, of which jihad is just the latest. The two men said they wanted to destroy a major synagogue in Manhattan.
Another guy named Mo — Rageh Ahmed Mohammed al-Murisi — was responsible for the case of American Airlines Flight 1561 last weekend. On the flight from Chicago to San Francisco, this Mo shrieked “Allahu akbar!” at the top of his lungs more than 30 times while he rushed the cockpit door twice. Recently arrived from Yemen, Mo sought to wage jihad inside the cockpit.
As Michelle Malkin notes in a column full of good links, some federal authorities and media whitewashers proclaimed that al-Murisi’s motives were “unknown.” Fortunately, those on board weren’t so benighted. “I swore to myself that I would never be a victim” after 9/11, said passenger Larry Wright, one of the four men who answered a flight attendant’s plea for help to subdue al-Murisi..
Michelle also notes that the Mo of American Airlines Flight 1561 somehow escaped the attention of the TSA despite a few telltale signs: “He had no keys, no luggage, $47 cash, two curious posted checks totaling $13,000, and a trove of expired and current state IDs from New York and California — where relatives said he had not notified them that he was coming. He is young, male, brought no family with him, had no job or other discernible income, and hails from the terror-coddling nation of Yemen.” TSA may put us in mind of yet another guy named Mo — the one with an “e” at the end.
