Duke will take on North Carolina in the quarterfinals of the NCAA men’s lacrosse championship this Sunday in Annapolis, Maryland. Duke is probably happy not to be facing Navy in this venue, as would have been the case had North Carolina not defeated the Midshipmen in the round of 16
However, Duke should expect a tough contest. North Carolina has a young team that’s been improving all season. Earlier in the year, Navy drubbed the Tar Heels, yet Carolina prevailed last weekend.
In late April, during the ACC tournament, Duke defeated North Carolina 13-9 at Durham. It was the Dukies second win over the Heels this year. Carolina thus has the revenge factor in its favor, but Duke must be considered a solid favorite.
