So crazy it just might work

Those of us who thought that Moveon.org and lefty bloggers who talk about "Bushhitler" and "General Betray-Us" are suffering from an infantile disorder, now have an alternative explanation to consider. Jane Hamsher, one such lefty blogger, informs John Edwards's wife Elizabeth that there is method to the rabid anti-war faction's madness. Specifically, it is "out there on the left so you can look 'moderate'" and it is "opening the conversation up so John Edwards isn’t considered the left-wing fringe loon that nobody should listen to."

Now if only the left had a plan to prevent Edwards from being considered the rank opportunist that nobody should listen to.

UPDATE: Hamsher shared her insight (or, more accurately, her excuse) by way of criticizing Elizabeth Edwards for attacking Moveon.org's "General Betray-Us" ad. Read as a whole, Hamsher's post is self-refuting when it comes to any "method to the madness" defense. The problem for folks like Hamsher is that they are widely consdered left-wing fringe loons whom even those political figures who have to listen them, like John and Elizabeth Edwards, are embarrassed by.
