Al Sharpton, deadbeat

The Washington Post reports that Al Sharpton’s group, the National Action Network, owes its landlord more than $28,000, according to the landlord. This amount includes seven months of unpaid rent.

A spokesperson for Sharpton denied that his organization is in arrears. It e-mailed the Post a copy of a check the group has written out to the landlord for $16,950. But the landlord says it has not received the check and, in any case, it doesn’t cover the full amount of what Sharpton’s outfit owes.

At this point, one might expect Sharpton to accuse the landlord of racism. But this move is not available here. The landlord is the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials.
