Today I watched the original version of The Thomas Crown Affair with Steve Mc Queen and Faye Dunaway. If one overlooks the annoying 1960s aesthetics, it’s quite a good film. The chess playing, airplane flying, dune buggy driving, polo playing Crown resembles the John Kerry portrayed by the Washington Post in my blog of earlier today. Instead of robbing banks to relieve boredom, Kerry is “competing in the extreme sport of politics, running for president.”
At some point in the movie, the wealthy, super successful Crown is asked what he has to worry about. In a line that aspires to be written by Kerry favorite Andre Gide, Crown replies “What I want to be tomorrow.” I wonder whether Kerry worries about the same thing.
