…the Dixie Chicks are at it again. They have just begun an overseas tour, and have again seized the opportunity to comment on American politics, this time the California recall election. Chick Emily Robison says, “He is a great film star. But I find his idea to run for governor absolutely insane. America should be governed by people who have a clue. I hope he doesn’t win.” The Chicks thus join Tom Hanks, Martin Sheen and Cybill Shepherd as Hollywood celebrities who have denounced Schwarzenegger.
So the Chicks are apparently undeterred by the outcry over their last political adventure. They seem to think that punditry has worked out well for them. I guess the dark night of fascism hasn’t fallen yet. Not here, anyway.
