In his weekly Washington Times column today Tony Blankley dissects the argument made by George Will yesterday in favor of the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld: “Don’t resign, Mr. Rumsfeld.”
Blankley responds to different elements of Will’s argument than I did in “George Will unglued.” Blankley’s column is excellent, but it leaves untouched the elements of Will’s argument that constitute an attack on the foreign policy of the Bush administration.
Will criticizes the foreign policy as imperial and the war in Iraq as an imperial war. Blankley concludes by characerizing the war in Iraq the first major battle of the War on Terror, only disagreeing with Will implicitly on this point. Blankley’s column nevertheless clarifies the manifold errors in Will’s argument.
