A Less than Resounding Victory

Earlier today, the Supreme Court reversed the decision of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals that held the Pledge of Allegiance to be unconsitutional. The Court did not reach the merits of the case, ruling instead that the plaintiff, Michael Newdow, lacked legal standing to sue on behalf of his daughter. Three justices–Rehnquist, O’Connor and Thomas–wrote that they believe the Pledge is consitutional.
