The U.S. military, or an anonymous Associated Press source who is allegedly an Iraqi policeman? Blog of the Week Flopping Aces highlights another interesting case of conflicting accounts of a military action in Baghdad. The military describes a “fierce firefight” in which coalition forces killed six terrorists.
But the Associated Press, after referring to the military’s account, tells a different story:
But police described the incident as an airstrike that killed four members of a family and wounded a guard outside al-Khafaji’s house. A man at the scene said a guard at al-Mutlaq’s office was also killed, but the police could not confirm his account.
Another anonymous “Iraqi police” source; is this another Jamil Hussein-type case? We can’t yet be sure, but Curt at Flopping Aces reports on his research, which is suggestive. Take a look and see what you think.
