A friend whose son goes to Emory wrote recently to say that Jimmy Carter would be speaking at Emory and that former Middle East envoy Dennis Ross was stepping up to debate Carter on the accuracy of his current book. Alas, as you might already have guessed, the debate is not to be. Instead Carter will have the forum to himself. Today’s Emory Wheel prints the excellent letter of a group of distinguished Emory professors reporting that Mahatma Jimmy has ducked again and asking a rhetorical question: “What’s Jimmy Carter afraid of?” And today’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution carries the related story: “Emory professors protest Carter visit.” (Thanks to Rachel Friday.)
