A favorable exchange rate for terrorists

In the January 2004 terrorist prisoner/Israeli hostage trade authorized by Prime Minister Sharon, Israel honored a rough exchange rate of 400 to one. It’s a great rate for terrorists. Fatah showed its appreciation with the simultaneous bombing of Egged bus number 19 in Jerusalem on January 29, 2004, killing 11 and injuring more than 50. According to the reporting in today’s Jerusalem Post, Israel is willing to up the rate in the terrorists’ favor to something like 1,400 to one, possibly including terrorist mastermind Marwan Barghouti. The Post also reports that tribal conflicts in Arafatistan are complicating the negotiations. Is there anyone outside the family of Gilad Shalit and Israel’s lunatic left who thinks that such a deal is prudent for Israel?
