Things have been pretty grim around here today, and rightly so. But let’s close on a positive note. I missed it in all the excitement, but Miss USA, Rima Fakih, participated in the Ronald Reagan Centennial celebration at the Reagan Library in California. Apparently she gave a speech, but I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. They sent me this photo, however, which represents the conjunction of some of the best elements of American culture. One thing I’ve learned in my years of covering pageants is that beauty queens tend to have good political judgment; like, for example, former Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela.
