The complete unexpurgated Conklin

The Minneapolis Star Tribune leads off its letters to the editor today with one from Power Line reader Dave Conklin of Victoria, Minnesota. Mr. Conklin wrote to comment on the Star Tribune article “Dayton rejects piecemeal budget bills from GOP.” addressing the ongoing budget struggle between Democratic Governor Mark Dayton and the Republican majorities in the state legislature. Here is the Conklin letter to the editor as published by the Strib:

I used to have no respect for Mark Dayton and thought that he was a joke of a gubernatorial candidate but for his name.
However, today I can say with certainty that he is “rolling” Republicans, absolutely “rolling” them.
I particularly enjoy the teacher in Dayton sending legislators, like ninth-graders, back to rewrite their papers until they are complete.
What a great move to create an authority position in negotiations. Hey, GOP, you underestimated the man, as I did.

Here is the complete unexpurgated Conklin:

I used to have no respect for Mark Dayton, the twice divorced, recovering alcoholic, with mental illness issues, and thought that he was a joke of a gubernatorial candidate but for his name.

Mr. Conklin’s sarcasm comes through a little more powerfully in the unexpurgated version. Perhaps that had something to do with the editing.
