Teamsters SEIU is apparently attempting to unionize drivers serving Target in Los Angeles, or seeking to bully Target in negotiations. I’m not sure what the problem is — have they won an election?
In perhaps the weakest showing ever in support of the
Teamsters SEIU, they sent some some mostly obese women over to rip it up in front of the cash registers and interfere with consensual transactions at a Target store somewhere in Los Angeles. I say the over/under on the average obesity of the revelers is 30 pounds. No offense to anyone intended, but dance probably isn’t their optimal form of protest.
The protesting dancers have a point to make, but what is it? Stop buying or we’ll shake our booties! Stephen Gutowski comments here.
Exit question: Where is Michelle Obama when you really need her?
READER DAVE WALCHER eggs me on: “22 thumbs up for the post title. At the end, I expected them to be chanting: Hey, Target, you can’t hide….THE COOKIES!“\
UPDATE: Reader Richard Thiel writes with a correction:
The dancing chubbies at Target are not representing the Teamsters. Eyeblast Jr. has given you a bum steer. Townhall got it right. It’s Obama’s buddies at the SEIU. The heavyweights were transported on First Student buses whose drivers are represented by the SEIU. It is likely that SEIU has undertaken an organizing effort on behalf of Target drivers.
While the “dance team” appears to have gone out of their way to hide their affiliation (which is not the SEIU norm), there are several glimpses of purple SEIU t-shirts under a blouse or jacket and many wearing the purple SEIU necklace ID badge. Don’t know the affiliation of the caterers.
At the end of the video the old lady (wearing a purple SEIU neck badge) indicates she’s from Lake Stevens, which is about 35 miles north of Seattle. There is no incorporated city named Lake Stevens in the California atlas.
Mr. Thiel adds that he is cutting me some slack — “I realize your day job keeps you busy. I’ve got the time since I’m retired on a Teamster pension, Local 174-Seattle” — but I regret the error.
