Anyone who has observed the hateful rhetoric that Democratic politicians and media figures have directed at Republicans over the last few years must have wondered whether Democrats’ over-the-top hate speech would lead to violence. So far, mercifully, it hasn’t; not lethal violence, anyway. But a pro-gay marriage activist named Ronnie McMillian, from Hawthorne, New Jersey, shows how liberal loyalists can be whipped into a homicidal frenzy by liberal hate speech. McMillian is under arrest for threatening to murder Republicans with whom he has political disagreements:
A Hawthorne man who actively supports gay marriage was ordered detained Thursday pending a psychological evaluation following his arrest on charges of threatening the governor of Louisiana and a member of a congresswoman’s staff.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy L. Waldor ordered the detention and evaluation of Ronnie D. McMillian, 27, who was arrested by the FBI on Wednesday.
McMillian was charged with two counts of using the telephone to threaten injury to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and a constituent affairs employee on the staff of U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.
An investigation by the U.S. Capitol Police allegedly found that McMillian would call the offices of members of Congress and other public officials and scream at the person who answered the call or the voice mail system, using vulgar, harassing, and sometimes threatening language to attack the official’s positions on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights, authorities said.
The criminal complaint against McMillian spells out his misdeeds in more detail:
7. In his voicemail, MCMILLIAN made numerous vulgar and harassing statements relating to his interpretation of Governor Jindal’s stance on gay rights. Among other things, MCMILLIAN stated, “And you better keep in your fucking little head, you little maggot–you better keep in your fucking head that gay people have Second Amendment rights too you little [unintelligible]. So you better back the fuck off or [begin yelling] every single one of you white [re]publican parasites are going to get a bullet in your fucking head. You are going to hang for treason, you disgusting maggot.”
Bobby Jindal is not, of course, white. But no one expects any sort of coherence from these frenzied liberals. The criminal complaint relates McMillian’s contact with Congresswoman Bachmann’s office in Minnesota:
9. During the first call, MCMILLIAN began making vulgar and harassing statements about Republicans, including calling them “Nazis” [Ed.: Gosh, I wonder where he got that idea?] and saying they should all be taken out. When the Constituent Officer asked MCMILLIAN to clean up his language, MCMILLIAN stated, “The fuck I will.” As a result, the Constituent Officer terminated the telephone call.
10. MCMILLIAN called back seconds later and stated, “If you hang up on me again, I’ll break your fucking fingers.” The Constituent Officer again asked MCMILLIAN to clean up his language and McMillian responded, “No, I fucking won’t.” The Constituent Officer again terminated the call.
11. MCMILLIAN called back for a third time seconds later and stated, “Now I am going to break your fucking face.” The Constituent Officer terminated the call and immediately reported the threats to law enforcement.
Such threats of violence are common among liberals. We have gotten similar threats over the years, most often from left-wing homosexual activists. I doubt that anyone could be involved in Republican politics for long without receiving threats of one kind or another from seemingly demented liberals. This is, I think, the result of an unremitting campaign of hate that Democratic Party politicians and media figures have waged against conservatives and Republicans. So far, we have been lucky: no one has gotten killed. Let’s hope our luck continues to hold.
