A few weeks back when Jonah Goldberg and I were cruising the Baltic Sea attempting to spot Putin’s subs, undermine Russian autocracy, and re-enacting the Kronstadt rebellion as we sailed close by that memorial of early Leninist terror, I sat down with Jonah not to discuss current issues, but how he came to be a conservative in the first place. Here he explains his childhood and education. We had trouble finding a good location to shoot the video, and so the light is dreadful, and you can hear the hum of the NOx-spewing diesel engines of the ship in the background. I’ve done as much as I can with color correction and sound editing software, but hey—I ain’t James Cameron.
Anyway, I think you’ll find this first installment fun and interesting. It’s 16 minutes long, as I couldn’t find good edit points to chop it into five or six minute segments, but it moves along very quickly, and there are some real gems along the way (such as Pat Buchanan attending Jonah’s bris). So enjoy, and I hope to have a second installment in a few days.
