The most disgusting member of the House of Representatives, Alan Grayson, is on his way out after a single term. Grayson now trails his Republican challenger, whom Grayson likened to the Taliban, by seven points. That margin should only grow as voters continue to learn what a disgrace Grayson is.
That result is no shocker, but this one is: Michigan’s John Dingell, the “dean of the U.S. House,” trails Republican Rob Steele 44-39 in a poll reported in today’s Detroit Free Press. Dingell has represented Michigan’s 15th District since 1954, when he inherited the seat from his father, who had held it since 1932. As John McCormack notes, that could give rise to a unique campaign slogan: Are you better off now than you were 78 years ago?
If Dingell goes down, we really are seeing a historic election.
PAUL adds: Credit where credit is due: most of us, and the nation as a whole, are better off than we were in 1932.
