Hitler Youth? Seriously?

We usually don’t bother to deconstruct the craziest excesses of the modern Left, because life is too short–we might only live to be 100 or so–and we write for an intelligent audience. Still, sometimes it is worth noting how far over the edge American liberals have gone.

Earlier today, I wrote about President Trump’s speech to the Boy Scout Jamboree in West Virginia last night. I didn’t mention that many Democrats have likened the Boy Scouts to the Hitler Youth of 1930s Germany, because I thought it was too stupid to deserve notice.

But that meme has continued, and spread, among liberal Democrats. A large number of Democrats have used the Hitler Youth analogy to denounce President Trump’s speech and, more important, the Boy Scouts’ enthusiastic response to it. I can’t do much more than echo the Educated Hillbilly, as reproduced on InstaPundit:

Beyond that, it should be noted that liberals have long hated the Boy Scouts. A Boy Scout, after all, pledges:

On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Further, Boy Scouts recite:

A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

There is nothing in that creed that liberals agree with. Liberals have been trying for years to destroy the Scouts by forcing them to accredit homosexual troop leaders, in the hope that those leaders would molest boys, leading to lawsuits that would bankrupt the Scouts organization. So far, at least, that hasn’t happened.

For liberals to equate the Boy Scouts with Hitler Youth is simply insane. That is, however, the point at which modern American liberalism has arrived.
