The Hinderaker-Ward Experience, Episode 38: Jake Tapper and The Outpost

In Episode 38, Brian Ward and I talk about cliffs, fiscal and real–Brian likened us to Thelma and Louise–and awarded our This Week In Gatekeeping prize. But most of the show was devoted to an interview with Jake Tapper, ABC News White House Correspondent and the author of The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor. I wrote about The Outpost here, when I was only half-way through it. Having finished the book, I will repeat what I said then: The Outpost is a terrific book, a tribute to America’s fighting men that should be read by everyone who wants to learn more about what our soldiers go through in the line of duty.

And Jake was an excellent guest. I am pretty sure you will find the conversation interesting. Trust me: you will be inspired by the almost unbelievable courage and fortitude of America’s soldiers in Afghanistan.

You can listen to the podcast by playing it right here, or you can go to Ricochet to download or subscribe to the podcast in various ways, or you can hit the subscribe button in the graphic above to subscribe on iTunes or elsewhere. Or you can use Stitcher. There are many ways to experience the Hinderaker-Ward Experience, but I think the best is by subscribing on iTunes. That way, you never have to worry about missing an episode.

One more thing: we haven’t really promoted the fact, but we are an Amazon affiliate. That means that if you follow the link above, which takes you to Amazon, and buy The Outpost, we get a small percentage of the price at no cost to you. And that’s not all: any time you shop at Amazon, if you access the Amazon site through our book shelf–scroll down if you aren’t sure what I’m talking about, or up after 16 hours or so–then we will get a small percentage of anything you buy at Amazon on that visit. Once a reader accessed Amazon through our book shelf to check out a book and stayed long enough to buy a laptop, on which we got our (small) percentage. Again, at no cost to him or her. So when you’re doing your holiday shopping at Amazon, please keep us in mind! And, one more time: if you are looking for a Christmas present for any of your friends or relatives who are fans of the military, or who aren’t fans but should be, or who just want to be inspired by an extraordinary story of heroism and sacrifice, give them a copy of The Outpost.
