Barack Obama? Who’s He?

Featured image One of the main story lines of this year’s elections has been Democratic Senate candidates fleeing from President Obama, even as he insists that his policies are on the ballot and they are all his staunch supporters. The spectacle has had plenty of entertainment value, but its significance shouldn’t be overlooked. While they don’t want to admit it publicly or even to pollsters, it is obvious that nearly all Democrats »

Iran has Obama’s number

Featured image There is something to offend just about everyone on the American political scene in the comments of senior Iranian presidential adviser and former intelligence minister Ali Younesi. The comments were offered for domestic political consumption to the official Iranian news agency. I think it is fair to say that Younesi et al. have Obama’s number. Younesi’s contempt for Obama shines through his comments and it is surely reflects the consensus »

Dems at work

Featured image Democrats protect illegal voters as though they are a core constituency of the party, and they promote arrangements that facilitate voter fraud as though fraud is a strategic electoral weapon in their armory. In his latest video (below), James O’Keefe makes the rounds among Democrats and their friends at work on behalf of their causes in Colorado. O’Keefe has posted a partial transcript here. In the video O’Keefe and his »

Poll shows “war on women” theme isn’t working, among other good news

Featured image A new AP/Gfk poll provides lots of good news for Republicans. Perhaps most significantly, it shows that female likely voters no longer favor the Democrats in this election. AP/Gfk surveyed 1,608 adults. The sample included 968 likely voters. The margin of error is plus-or-minus 2.8 for all respondents and 3.6 for likely voters. Last month, the survey found that female likely voters favored having a Congress controlled by Democrats by »

Those lyin’ Dems, by the numbers

Featured image On two occasions this campaign season, against all the odds, President Obama has said something useful and, even more improbably, something true. On those occasions he advertised the fact that the Democratic Senate candidates running for reelection in states such as Colorado, New Hampshire, Louisiana, Alaska, North Carolina, and Arkansas are in the bag for him. When their vote is needed, Obama can count on it, and when they tell »

The Democrats Go Back to Their Racist Roots [Updated]

Featured image Faced with major electoral losses this year, the Democratic Party is pulling out all the stops. For them, that means descending, again, into racism. As Glenn Reynolds says: Democrats used to use racial fearmongering to get white voters to turn out. Now they use racial fearmongering to get black voters to turn out. Not much else has changed…. The Democratic Party is trying to use the shooting of Michael Brown »

Deperate Dems “not ready to accept defeat”

Featured image John normally covers pathetic fundraising letters from Democrats, but this one captured my fancy. The first sentence is true; the rest is whimpering: Dear [X]: We are completely out of ideas. After President Clinton emailed you this morning to ask for help, we really thought we would be in a better place. But we aren’t. The Koch Brothers, Karl Rove, and the other Republican outside groups are spending millions against »

Obama explains

Featured image It is a sign of the pollution of our public discourse that the President of the United States rubs shoulders with the vile Al Sharpton, demagogue and race hustler extraordinaire. Sharpton is one of the most vile figures in American public life. It’s an old story, and the race hustle has become a strategic component of Democratic politics. Sharpton has become a mainstream figure in the modern Democratic Party. So »

Udall Describes Himself as “Brain Dead.” Who Can Argue?

Featured image If you haven’t yet seen it, you really must watch this interview of Senator Mark Udall by a Denver television station. Asked whether Common Core is good or bad, he answers “Yes.” The interviewer doesn’t seem to notice. It’s downhill from there; asked to name three books that have influenced him, Udall is stumped and suggests they come back and re-tape another time. Remarkable: The Udalls have been something of »

Dems Blast the “Tricky, Little-Known Maneuver” That Passed Obamacare

Featured image Former Secretary of Labor Bob Reich, on behalf of MoveOn, warns Democrats what will happen if Republicans take control of the Senate: they may use a “tricky, little-known maneuver” to “ram through” their “right-wing policies” with only 51 votes, instead of the 60 votes “usually required” in the Senate. Here he is: So the “tricky, little-known maneuver” that the Republicans may use is reconciliation. Reconciliation dates to the 1974 Budget »

More Fake Republicans For Orman

Featured image In Kansas, Larry Lessig’s Mayday PAC is running an ad on behalf of Independent Democrat Greg Orman featuring, according to Women For Kansas, “lifelong Republican” Nancy Moffitt: It is striking how Democrats love to find “lifelong Republicans” who have suddenly seen the light. It generally turns out, however, that their devotion to the GOP is less than advertised. A reader looked up Ms. Moffitt’s Kansas voter registration: Sure enough, she’s »

The Daily Show meets Rich Richman

Featured image Jon Stewart performed a service for his viewers on the Daily Show this week. In the eight-minute segment below, he actually mentioned and mocked Obama’s recent fundraiser at the home of Rich Richman. The segment begins slowly and picks up around the three-minute mark. It continues with a review of the Democrats’ hysterical fundraising email messages this campaign season. John Hinderaker has written about the Democrats’ fundraising emails with more »

Dems Say: Let’s Run on Global Warming and Contraception. Voters Say: Huh?

Featured image The Democrats’ two big issues this cycle, to the extent they have been willing to talk about issues, are global warming and contraception. Neither of which the federal government has much, if anything, to do with, which may account for the fact that voters just don’t care. This Gallup chart makes the point visually. It graphs the importance of issues to voters against the Republicans’ advantage on those issues. Note »

Pryor analytics, O’Keefe edition

Featured image James O’Keefe takes his Project Veritas Action team inside the campaign of incumbent Democratic Senator Mark Pryor of Arkansas. In his new video, O’Keefe’s team shows Pryor supporters claiming that he secretly supports gay marriage although he holds himself out as a supporter of traditional marriage. O’Keefe prefaces the video with this email message: Enter Senator Mark Pryor. Sen. Pryor is a Democrat from Arkansas who has been in office »

A word from Michael Rogers

Featured image Michael Rogers is the author of the message in the adjacent post. I wrote him to ask if I could have his permission to identify him by name. He has not only acceded, for purposes of identification he has provided his professional affiliations with Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital, where he is assistant professor of surgery and a research associate in the vascular biology program, respectively. Dr. Rogers (the “doctor” »

A word on the NIH budget

Featured image John wrote yesterday about the alleged NIH “budget cuts.” Dr. Michael Rogers of Harvard Medical School/Children’s Hospital (Boston) follows up with a brief message providing a concise summary as well as a link to the authoritative CRS fact sheet setting forth a history of NIH funding (dated December 23, 2013): Attached [at the link above] is a CRS analysis of the actual NIH budget for the last several years in »

About Those NIH “Budget Cuts”

Featured image On Friday, Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health, complained that budget cuts had interfered with his agency’s ability to develop an anti-Ebola vaccine: Frankly, if we had not gone through our 10-year slide in research support, we probably would have had a vaccine in time for this that would’ve gone through clinical trials and would have been ready. This sent Democrats into a twitter frenzy: sequester, »
